Westminster taken by me |
My life at the moment is a whirlwind of travel and sightseeing, goodbyes and new adventures. I can tell you my emotions are all over the place and my heart is pulling me one way and my head the other. I have never delved too much in to my personal life but perhaps this will be cathectic.
For the past 2 and a half years I've lived in Europe, specifically 2 years was spent living in London, England. As soon as I arrived it was as if I had come home. As dorky as that sounds it was quite unreal and every time I stepped out the front door it was almost like having a gusty breeze blow and sweep me off my feet. It was hitting me head on and I loved it! I'm originally from Australia but never quite fit the Aussie mould. So having found my feet and I would even say my identity in London I had to face the fact that I only had a 2 year visa.
Towards the end of 2011 life began to speed up and I felt like I was the Titanic with life decision icebergs dead ahead. Of course my coping mechanism was denial, isn't everyones? So here I am many months later and I am finally beginning to open my mind to the possibility of another life not in London. Seeing that in writing actually looks quite ridiculous and I'm sure you are thinking how can someone spend so long ignoring the fact that they are moving countries. I would be thinking that too if it wasn't happening to me! Without getting too sidetracked and heading back to University for Psych 101, I've finally acknowledged/come to terms/ accepted/ gone with the flow that I am moving back to Australia... in about 3 weeks. Yikes!
I had a plan. A really good plan and that was to travel as much as I could before I had to head back to the sunburnt land. It's kind of ironic that I refer to Australia as the sunburnt land because I do not like the hot weather what so ever. I'm a winter baby and while my friends are freezing and layering up in -10 degree weather I am the one taking layers off, not wearing gloves and wearing only one pair of cotton socks under my boots. If my feet didn't get wet I would wear flip flops or trainers all winter! Clearly I am suited to the United Kingdom's weather! So my plan has been in action since January and I've been lucky enough to visit some amazing places with only 3 weeks left to make the most of it. I have lists of emails to write to people, thank you cards to post and blogs to publish so I better get on it!
Thanks for listening
