Who doesn't love Friends? It was a show I grew up watching throughout my teenage years and without a doubt laughed my head off every episode. This morning this video was circulating Pinterest and of course I was giggling the whole time. It's all about Phoebe and her bloopers!

The Oranges
Doesn't The Oranges look like a heart warming, take your Mum to the movies kind of film? I don't know when it's out in Australia but I will definitely take my Mum. I was cringing and laughing in the preview so that's already a good sign!

Dinner, Drinks and Dancing
Last weekend a good friend flew in to town for a couple days and to celebrate we went out on Saturday night for dinner, drinks and dancing. It was a perfect night out with lots and lots of laughter! I didn't capture an outfit shot but this is very close to what I wore, in fact I actually have to belt.

PS: I am slightly obsessed with the adorable drawings in Polyvore.

A Floral Feast
One of the things I love about blogs is that you can follow a link and stumble upon the most incredible finds. Case in point, today I followed a link to Homes and Antiques Magazine that Mr Bazaar had previously posted. I was in love! I was so taken with the magazine that I downloaded the iPad app and their current issue today, read it tonight on the couch, cooed over the amazing interiors and wished desperately that I was still living in the UK. One of my favourite features was this amazing Georgian home in England. I loved the interiors, the colour scheme, the tea cups and that couch!

On my shopping list
Well actually it's no longer on my shopping list because it's in the living room! When I returned to Australia from London I had a "What was I thinking moment?" when I walked in to my living room, actually my entire house. For some reason all those years ago I had a thing for brown and I swear it was my mum who advised me to go brown when we were picking out furniture together, however she recalls differently and says that I would accept nothing but brown. Alot has changed since then!
So in an effort to lighten up my living room furniture and provide that awesome pop of colour I'm so dying to see I bought an incredibly bright floral rug from PB Teen. Now I know it's meant to be a 'teen' website but to be honest they have really fun stuff and I searched everywhere in Melbourne for a decent floral rug but as I have been experiencing since I returned, Australia is just a little behind the eight ball. I must have ventured in to a dozen rug stores looking for a chevron, zig zag or floral rug and all I saw were traditional persian rugs or bland colours in circles. My first choice was actually a rug from Anthrologie but the reviews I read said the rug pulled because of the looped yarns and Anthropologie don't ship internationally. PB Teen on the other hand had 50% off international shipping and it was less than a week from the day I placed the order to delivery!

Half Way
It's half way through winter in Australia and in Melbourne this week I've felt the sun on my back more times than not which has put me in the mood for outdoor entertaining, even though it's still a little brisk outside! I think I'll have to wait until spring time but when the temperature heats up I can't wait to test out these ideas on my friends!

Movie Magic
I love films, their character, the sets, the costume design and the escapism. While at the gym the other day I watched Mirror Mirror on my iPad (a fabulous way to kill the calories without even noticing it) and was enamoured with the set design and costumes in the film. Yes, it is a completely over the top, whimsical movie about Snow White but that's exactly what enthralled me with the costumes too. My two favourite costumes were both from the same scene and both have elaborate head dress!
I just absolutely adore the peacock head piece Julia Robert's is wearing, it's so regal and somehow flattering too!
Don't you just love the puff balls in pastel pink hanging below the chandeliers? Or the fact that everyone is in the same shade of eggshell and the Queen is in red above.

Design*Sponge and You've Got Mail
Have you checked out Grace's Design * Sponge website lately? I love her "Living In" series and this week she features one of my absolute favourite movies, You've Got Mail. I was 15 years old when You've Got Mail was released and my romantic self fell in love with the movie and New York City right away. It was You've Got Mail that inspired me to travel and somehow get to New York City no matter what! Well I've been there numerous times now and still love the city more on every visit. Dont' tell anyone but whenever I walk past a flower shop in NYC I think of Meg Ryan hiding behind a bouquet of flowers and when I order a Starbucks I picture Tom Hanks in front of me!

Happy 4th of July
Happy 4th of July!
It might be a little early in the USA but in Australia is it July 4th, and I wanted to wish all of you in America a very happy day. I have been noticing a lot of red, white and blue pins lately on Pinterest and here are some of my favourites.

Food Envy: Birthday Cake
Last week it was my birthday and I tried to make it fairly low key although since I have not had much of my Mum's cooking the past couple years I asked her make me her chocolate cake! When I asked her she had a puzzled look on her face, the look that says "oh crap!". Apparently, she had lost the recipe for her fabulous chocolate cake... alas Pinterest saved the day. I chose a cake based purely on the picture since I am a pretty lousy cook and it was incredible! You MUST try this recipe for your next cake baking session, the texture of the cake was just so soft and delicious. We changed the icing recipe slightly as we didn't really need the masses of butter the recipe lists.
Chocolate Chocolate Cake
2 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups flour
3/4 cup cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup oil
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup boiling water
Mix the first six ingredients together. Then add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix well. Add the boiling water and mix slowly. (Trust us on this one.) Pour into 2 greased and floured round pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool for about 15 minutes in the pans. Turn them out of the pans onto cooling racks or plates. Cool completely before frosting.
Chocolate Frosting
12 Tbsp. butter, softened
5 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup cocoa
2/3 cup milk
2 tsp. vanilla
Add butter to bowl. Then add about 1/3 of the powdered sugar. Mix well. Then about a 1/3 of the milk and vanilla. Mix well. Next 1/3 of the cocoa. Mixing well after each addition and scraping down the sides of the bowl. Repeat until all is added.

Some days you just need something to make you feel good. This Discovery Channel advert from a couple years ago always makes me smile.
