Paris for New Years Eve
I flew in to Paris on December 30th and spent the day touring the city, mainly the Musee D'Orsay as it was quite blistery outside but my walk along the Seine was magnificent. I love the buildings in Paris, they're romantic and gothic at the same time and filled with so much history that I never believe I'll be able to understand it all. My friends came in very late that evening and New Years Eve was filled with much laughter and catching up as we spent our Christmas holidays separately. We found a delightful restaurant near our hotel and gorged ourselves on french delicacies and creme brulee! This year though, Sarkozy and the Paris government thought it best not to have fireworks due to the economic recession hitting much of Europe. So while the rest of the world lit up like a Christmas tree we few gathered in the Tulleries Gardens in Paris and watched the Eiffel Tower twinkle in the night, still a beautiful sight.
